In this policy we, us, and our mean Harbour Labs Digital Ltd. You means anyone visiting the site or interacting with our services.
What we collect
We collect personal data in two situations.
When you browse the site
If you consent to analytics cookies, we receive standard analytics data: the page you visited, the page that referred you, an anonymised version of your IP address, your approximate country, your browser and device type, and the timestamp of your visit. We do not collect this data if you decline analytics cookies. A small number of operationally necessary cookies (e.g. those that remember your cookie choice itself) are set regardless because the consent mechanism cannot function without them.
When you subscribe to our newsletter
We collect the email address you submit and the timestamp of the submission, plus implicit request metadata (your IP address) so we can detect and limit abuse of the signup form. We do not collect names or any other identifiers at signup.
Our lawful basis
For both analytics and the newsletter we rely on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR. For analytics, consent is captured by our cookie consent banner. For the newsletter, consent is given by your act of submitting the form combined with the double opt-in confirmation step that Kit sends to your email address.
You can withdraw consent at any time. For analytics, re-open the cookie preferences dialog using the link in the footer (or on the cookies page) and decline statistics cookies. For the newsletter, click the unsubscribe link in any email we send you.
Who we share your data with
We use a small number of trusted service providers (processors) to run the site:
| Processor | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Inc. | Website hosting and request/error logs | EU + US edge network; transfers covered by SCCs |
| Kit (Inkpot Inc.) | Newsletter list management and confirmation emails | US; transfers covered by SCCs |
| Google LLC (Google Analytics) | Anonymised website analytics | US; transfers covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the UK Extension to that framework |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with any party not listed above except where we are legally required to do so (e.g. a valid court order or ICO request).
How long we keep it
- Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics, the default retention period for our property. After that it is automatically deleted by Google.
- Newsletter subscribers: retained for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, Kit removes you from the active list within one working day.
- Server logs: Vercel retains request and error logs in line with their own retention policy; we do not export or store these elsewhere.
International transfers
Some of our processors are based in the United States. Where this is the case, we rely either on the UK-US Data Bridge / EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Google) or on Standard Contractual Clauses (Vercel, Kit). The UK Information Commissioner's Office recognises both as providing an adequate level of protection for personal data.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten")
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances
- Object to processing where we rely on consent
- Data portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly-used format
- Withdraw consent at any time, for any processing we rely on consent for
To exercise any of these rights, email support@harbourlabs.app with a description of what you would like. We aim to respond within 30 calendar days, the statutory maximum.
Complaints
If you believe we have not handled your personal data properly, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
- Website: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Phone: 0303 123 1113
- Post: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF
We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first. Please contact support@harbourlabs.app before involving the ICO if you can.
Cookies
A full inventory of the cookies set on this site, with descriptions and durations, is available on the cookies page. Manage your preferences at any time using the link in the footer.
