Settings reference

Every section of the Nearby admin — Widget, Stores, Appearance, Settings, Insights, and Plans — and what each control does.

The Nearby admin is organised into a handful of sections. This page lists what each one controls and the defaults.

Widget

Where you choose how the widget looks and behaves, with a live preview that updates as you edit.

  • Widget styleCompact (a list of nearest in-stock locations) or Map (the full interactive map). Free is compact only; Map needs Starter or Growth.
  • Popup style — controls the in-store popup independently of the inline widget (Map or Compact).
  • Map style — a preset map theme (light, premium, etc.). On Growth you can paste a custom MapLibre style.json URL, or switch the provider to Google Maps.
  • Reserve label — the wording on the reserve action (Growth).
  • Remove branding — hides the small "Powered by Nearby" line (Starter and up).

Appearance

Colours, fonts, and labels for the widget, so it matches your theme.

  • Accent and surface colours, corner radius, and label text.
  • Custom CSS for fine-grained control (Growth).
  • Everything here is reflected in the Widget preview before it ships.

Stores

Your locations. Each store maps to a Shopify location.

  • Address — used to place the store on the map; geocoded automatically.
  • Opening hours — power the "open now" badge (Starter and up).
  • Phone & pickup details — shown on the store card; pickup/buy-online CTAs need Growth.
  • Low-stock threshold — the count at or below which a location shows as "low" rather than "in stock".
  • Stock buffer — treat a location as out of stock a few units early (Starter and up).
  • Import from Google Business Profile — pull locations and hours straight from GBP.

The number of stores shown on the storefront is capped by your plan (Free 3, Starter 25, Growth unlimited).

Settings

App-level configuration.

  • Map provider & key — MapTiler is used by default; on Growth you can add your own Google Maps API key (stored encrypted at rest) to render Google Maps instead.
  • Geocoding — how store addresses are turned into map coordinates.
  • Driving routes — enable drive-time routes via OpenRouteService (Growth).

Insights

Analytics (Growth):

  • Intent — widget views and clicks, so you can see demand by product and location.
  • ROI — verified in-store revenue and orders attributed to Nearby, with CSV export and period-over-period comparison.
  • Out-of-stock — products shoppers wanted nearby but couldn't get, so you know what to restock.

Plans

Shows your current plan and lets you upgrade or downgrade. Billing is handled by Shopify — see Billing.
